EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN

Ikenna Egbukole

Ikenna began his professional career in December 2002 at Assurance Bank Limited (now Polaris Bank) as a Relationship Officer in the Commercial Banking Group. His extensive journey in financial services includes pivotal roles in the Corporate Banking teams at Zenith Bank and Bank PHB (now Keystone Bank).

In 2008, Ikenna joined Stanbic IBTC Bank (a member of the Standard Bank Group), where he excelled in the Corporate Banking Coverage team and later in the Structured Trade Finance team, specializing in originating, structuring, and managing complex trade finance deals. His expertise deepened with roles at Standard Bank South Africa and Standard Bank London, where he gained global exposure in Structured Trade and Commodity Finance, financing trade across Africa, Europe, and the Middle East while building deep knowledge across diverse industries and markets.

In August 2014, Ikenna became Head of Structured Trade & Commodity Finance at FirstBank Nigeria, overseeing trade and commodity businesses across the bank and its African subsidiaries. He held this role until November 2022, when he was appointed Chief Operating Officer of MITSUN Group.

In 2025, Ikenna assumed the position of Executive Chairman of MITSUN Group, bringing decades of leadership, strategic insight, and a track record of success in trade finance. A recognized expert and advocate for professionalism in the financial services sector, Ikenna’s core expertise includes Corporate and Investment Banking Coverage, Credit Risk Management, Agricultural Finance, and Structured Trade Finance. He has a proven track record of structuring complex trade and commodity finance deals in the soft commodity, mining, metals, and energy sectors, ensuring receivables are securely ring-fenced.

Ikenna has spearheaded numerous landmark trade finance deals in sub-Saharan Africa and remains a prominent speaker at international trade finance conferences. A recipient of the 2020 FirstBank CEO Award, his professional memberships include The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria and the International Trade and Forfaiting Association.                                                              
Ikenna holds a bachelor’s degree in Insurance from Imo State University and an Executive MBA from the Lagos Business School (Pan-Atlantic University). He is also an alumnus of INSEAD Business School, France.

Ikenna Awujo is described by allies as an energetic and self-motivated individual, Ikenna holds a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing from the University of Calabar, a Diploma in Ship Management from Lloyd’s Maritime Academy, United Kingdom and an MBA in Management from the University of Lagos.

His resourcefulness and diverse skills including Strategic Management, Marketing, Planning, Business Development, Stakeholders Management, and Organisational Growth are responsible for the success he has achieved in a decade-plus career.

Having functioned and excelled across different executive roles and capacities including the Head of Marketing and Trading role at Nepal Oil & Gas Limited where he cut his professional teeth as a young Management Trainee, expanding the company’s market from retail to industrial at the national level before his exit, Ikenna continues to demonstrate uncommon technical astuteness and entrepreneurial drive in providing strategic direction to steer the several portfolios he manages to greater profitability.

Joy Ihejirika

Joy Ihejirika began her career in 1995 with Diamond Bank Plc. In 2002, she transitioned to the United Kingdom, where she served as an Accounts Manager at Huntleigh National Care. In 2003, she joined Whitbread Group Plc, taking on roles as Head of Accounts Payable (Marriott Hotel) and Fixed Assets Accountant (Costa Coffee) in 2003 and 2004, respectively.
In 2005, Mrs. Ihejirika joined NHS Direct (UK) as a Fixed Assets Accountant. Her extensive experience in finance and management includes roles such as Finance Manager at Three Valley Water (UK), Management Accountant at Luton Primary Care Trust (NHS), and Finance, Contract & IM Coordinator at Luton Borough Council (UK). She also served as Generation Management Accountant at Renewable Energy System UK & Ireland.
In 2009, Mrs. Ihejirika joined Aioon Group as CFO/Finance Director, bringing her vast experience in financial management and strategic leadership. She later became Chairman of MITSUN Group, where she provided vision and guidance that helped shape the company’s success.
As of 2025, she serves as a Non-Executive Director at MITSUN Group, bringing her extensive expertise in finance, corporate governance, and strategic oversight to the organization.

An ambitious and motivated manager with over 5 years of experience driving strong operational knowledge of inventory management, capital turnover, logistics, and accounts management. He possesses a successful track record in operations, customer relations, revenue growth, and vendor sourcing. Continually driven to drive profitability, control costs, improve and facilitate processes.

Deji  holds a B.Sc. in Computer Science from Lagos State University. In addition to his degree, he has obtained several professional certifications, including Export Management, A+ Engineering, Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), Data Analytics, and Oracle Certified Professional (OCP).

He began his career as an IT/Operations Officer with LSC Consulting in 2010 and was promoted to Head of Operations and Logistics in 2012.

In 2013, he joined Aioon Energy as Head of Operations and Logistics Officer and was promoted to Operations Manager before he joined Mitsun Group as General Manager.

Folarin Giwa

Folarin Giwa is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria with several years of expertise advising businesses with a variety of permanent establishment arrangements on tax matters. He has also helped business handle a range of tax challenges brought on by tax audit/investigation operations carried out by both FIRS and LIRS. 2013 marked the beginning of his professional career with May & Baker Nigeria Plc, and 2017 saw him join Perfetti Van Melle Nigeria Limited. He left his role as Head, Factory Account at Perfetti Van Melle in 2019 to pursue his dream of launching a Tax and Financial Consulting Firm before joining Mitsun Group as Chief Financial Officer in 2022. Folarin holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Lagos. He holds several certifications from the Institute of Business Management in Berlin, Germany, including ones in financial accounting analysis, business valuation, and risk management. His financial and management accounting knowledge spans several facets of the industry, including financial management, financial advisory, budget and budgetary control, cost management, credit management, and risk management.  

With a core experience spanning 15 years in travel, consulting, finance, logistics, and oil and gas industries, Janet Durotoye, a First-Class graduate in Industrial Relations and Human Resource Management from Covenant University, leads the Human Resources and Brand Management team at Mitsun Group.
Before her current role, Janet rose through the ranks to the position of Head of Department at Geo Travels and Legend Bureau de Change following her Administrative Executive role at Nepal Oil and Gas Ltd.
Her brilliance, affinity for people, and zeal to take on challenges have seen her transverse key industries—honing her skills in business development, talent management, policy formulation and analysis, training and development, leadership, organizational management, HR strategy, performance management, strategic planning, and financial advisory—in the process.
Janet is an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) and Alumnus of (LBS) Lagos Business School. Her thirst for knowledge and desire to improve her leadership skills led to her study for a diploma in Leadership Development at the African Leadership Centre, Covenant University.
An inspiring leader who consistently drives the strategic direction for her team, Janet is an avid reader who enjoys dancing and keeping fit.

Sonia Kolade

Busola Sonia Kolade is a seasoned corporate lawyer with expertise in corporate law practice, business analysis, and project management. With 10+ years of experience, she has advised multinational and local clients across industries such as energy, finance, fintech, IT, real estate, and hospitality, providing strategic guidance on corporate governance and structure, compliance frameworks, and complex commercial transactions. Her in-depth understanding of regulatory landscapes enables her to craft globally aligned solutions, ensuring adherence to international standards. She is known for her ability to analyse business challenges and drive strategic growth and has successfully managed large-scale projects from inception to completion, consistently delivering measurable results.

Busola holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from Afe Babalola University, Nigeria, and is called to the Nigerian Bar, having earned a Barrister-at-Law (B.L.) certification from the Nigerian Law School, enabling her practice law in Nigeria. She is currently pursuing an MBA in Management at Fort Hays State University, USA, further enriching her strategic and business acumen.

She is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), the NBA Section on Business Law, and Women in Energy, Oil, and Gas (WEOG).
